It seems like there's always something going on at the Dallas Museum of Art for any emotion you might have or any mood you might happen to be in. You want undisturbed quiet solitude to ponder the intentions of an artist's use of a particular shade of steel blue? They have that. You want to stay up late, sip wine, giggle with friends, and mingle around? They have that. You want to recline on a blanket under the stars in the warm breeze while swaying to smooth jazz? They've had that too.
To help preserve both the artwork and the experience, visitors are encouraged to follow a few simple guidelines.
- Keep a respectful distance.
- Guests are asked not to touch the artwork and to remain at least three feet away. Security staff are generally nearby to ensure the safety of the collection.
- Follow photography guidelines.
- Still and video photography are permitted in the permanent collection galleries; but flash, camera lights, and images of special exhibitions or loaned works are not allowed.
- No smoking, food, or drinks.

- Umbrellas and oversized belongings must be checked on the first level at the coat check, located beneath the staircase next to the Atrium Café.
