Dickens on the Strand Returns This Weekend

Hear ye! Hear ye! All lords and ladies are invited to attend this annual holiday street festival based on 19th-century Victorian London. Taking visitors back to a romantic historical era, this magical celebration presented by the Galveston Historical Foundation features parades, food, non-stop entertainment, strolling carolers, roving musicians, bagpipers, jugglers, and a host of other entertainers like Bobbies, Beefeaters, and the Queen herself who recreate the atmosphere reminiscent of a Charles Dickens novel.

Dickens on the Strand is not only known for the vendors and entertainers who wear Victorian costumes, but also for the large number of visitors who choose to dress up in Victorian-style garb as well. You can easily participate by pulling together a few pieces hanging in the back of your closet, by finding a vintage dress or suit in a thrift shop or antique store, or even by having a costume custom-made for the event. The festival is open rain or shine.
