February Is Full of Reasons to Love John Wayne: An American Experience

The 10,000-sq.ft. exhibit that tracks the life and legacy of the iconic actor will celebrate Valentine's Day and Presidents Day with special offers.

February Is Full of Reasons to Love John Wayne: An American Experience

You're going to love the February promotions that are planned at John Wayne: An American Experience, the museum that gives guests an intimate tour of the life of John Wayne. First off, who doesn't love a discount? Seniors age 55 and older will receive 20 percent off walk-up admission to John Wayne: An American Experience throughout February. That's a savings of $4.39 off the $21.99 adult general admission price.

Next, Valentine's Day is for lovers, and John Wayne fans love coffee. Celebrate the holiday a little early, on Saturday, February 11 and Sunday, February 12, with free Valentine's cookies and John Wayne Gold Handle Coffee. Gold Handle Coffee, which offers carefully curated coffee blends, is named after a traditional gift given by John Wayne. One thing the actor never forgot in more than 50 years of making films was the gratitude he owed to all the folks involved in the making of each movie. He presented each member of cast and crew with a personalized Gold Handle mug as a token of his appreciation. The Duke's generous and unique tradition is celebrated through these collectible mugs and his love of sharing coffee with friends. Gold Handle Coffee was born of that tradition.

Finally, John Wayne was well known for his patriotism and dedication to his country. On Presidents Day, February 20, guests who purchase walk-up admission to John Wayne: An American Experience will be given a free gift in honor of the day. At the Experience, guests will see chains of correspondence between John Wayne and several U.S. presidents, including Dwight D. Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan. Also included is the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously awarded to John Wayne in 1980 by President Carter. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian award given by the president of the United States. It is awarded to individuals who have made an especially meritorious contribution to the security of national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors. The president awards the medal at his discretion.

Sprawling over 10,000 square feet, John Wayne: An American Experience is structured to give guests an intimate look at the iconic actor's life and legacy. Starting with his early childhood and career, each room highlights an aspect of The Duke's legacy. For film aficionados, an extensive gallery called Life on Screen highlights the most iconic film props and costumes. In the America, Why I Love Her gallery, guests can immerse themselves in patriotism through Grammy-nominated original poems recited by John Wayne.

Patrons of the Experience have exclusive access to never-before-seen family photos and correspondences that have been thoughtfully curated by the Wayne family to give guests a holistic view of the icon, whose values translate both on and off the silver screen.
