5 Fancy Finishes of the 2020 Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription

The meticulously-appointed bells and whistles of this contemporary SUV will engage your mind as well as your senses.

The Volvo XC90 has become more and more refined with each model year, and the refreshed 2020 version of the brand's top-of-the-line sports utility vehicle continues that design trend with a powerful countenance and elegant demeanor. The three-row luxury SUV achieves practicality and Scandinavian sophistication through the use of exceptional craftsmanship, contemporary styling, and beautiful materials such as crystal, leather, chrome, wood, and more.

Orrefors Crystal

An exquisite crystal gear selector knob, crafted by renowned Swedish glassworks company Orrefors, is one of several jewel-like details that enhance the interior on certain variants of the XC90. The collaboration between Volvo and Orrefors began via a concept car exhibition in 2014 when Orrefors was tasked with designing an entire center console out of crystal. Robin Page, head of interior design at Volvo Cars, elaborates, Teaming up with Orrefors is really exciting. The iconic elements of Swedish design, like crystal, is key for Volvo's ambitions to place itself in the top of the automotive industry. And for me as a designer, it's pure delight to work with the materials and combine them with a modern Scandinavian design in a high-tech packed premium car environment.

Nappa Leather

Exceptionally soft-handed Nappa leather, with color choices of either charcoal or blonde, offer seating comfort for the whole family with ergonomically-designed comfort seats available with massage and ventilation functions. The XC90's award-winning interior design also now offers a variety of seating configurations including a choice of four seats, seven seats, or a space-conscious configuration of six seats which allows easy access to the third row by simply walking through the middle aisle. Second and third row seats slide and recline individually, and occupants are raised slightly to provide better sightlines of the view ahead.

Chrome Highlights

Showcasing its fine details, the latest model glistens with a bit of newly-added chrome accent trim on the exterior at the lower outer grilles along with lower door chrome trim which comes engraved with the Inscription moniker. Additional subtle upgrades to the original award-winning exterior also include new exterior paint colors and a classically-stylish, newly-concave front grille.

Wood Trim

The XC90's carefully-appointed interior is equipped with beautiful wood finishes comprised of either linear walnut wood inlays or grey ash wood inlays for a natural yet contemporary appeal. Further providing additional upscale creature comforts, the available range-topping Bowers & Wilkins audio delivers clarity and realism by working strategically within the car's internal acoustics and 19 speakers to create a rich sound experience via three room modes including Gothenburg Concert Hall which allows for adaptation of sound to a music or mood.

Diamond-Cut Alloy

Creating a sophisticated mark of distinction, the Inscription trim includes integrated tail pipes and an exclusive choice of special alloy wheels with Volvo's trademark diamond-cut finish. Selections include standard 20" 10-spoke black diamond-cut alloy wheels, available 21" 8 multi spoke black alloy wheels, or available 22" 6 double spoke matte black alloy wheels with performance tires.

Starting at an MSRP of $73,800, the Volvo XC90 T8 eAWD Inscription hybrid achieves a combined fuel economy rating of 27 mpg via a direct-injected turbo and supercharged engine offering 400 hp and 472 ft.-lb. of torque with an 87 hp electric motor.
