Since it is believed that an ideal driving position not only creates a more exhilarating driving experience but also adds comfort and helps improve driver safety, human-centric design principles are intentionally incorporated as a major component to achieving the essential philosophy.

Mazda engineers studied human walking patterns prior to installing wider seats constructed with high-density, vibration-absorbing urethane foam designed to encourage the natural S-shape of the human spine. The natural driving position not only improves comfort but also allows for more control of the car, less mental distractions, and maximum awareness of situational references. This sense of enveloping comfort aims to result in less fatigue so that drivers and passengers feel better getting out of the vehicle than when they got in.
