Accent Puts Its Mark on the Value Class

Hyundai's 2018 sub-compact car brings affordable practicality at four trim levels.

They say that good things come in small packages, and the all-new 2018 Hyundai Accent features a lot of good things that add up to a nice little value package.

Performance

Zippy and responsive, the Accent sets the brand's segment benchmark for driving dynamics while delivering outstanding fuel economy (we achieved an average of 43.9 mpg at approximately 75 mph on the highway). The eco-efficient 1.6L GDI dual-CVVT 4-cylinder engine doles out 130 hp and comes with either a standard 6-speed manual transmission or optional automatic transmission. With a more efficient powertrain, improved ride quality, and reduced cabin noise, the Accent offers an enjoyable ride with tight turning radius and tangible road feedback for the driver.

Exterior

In an all-sedan lineup after phasing out the hatchback option, Hyundai offers the Accent in four notable configurations: SE manual starting at $14,995; SE automatic starting at $15,995; SEL starting at $17,295; and the top-scale Limited starting at a still extremely reasonable $18,895. A new cascading grill, streamlined headlights, LED wraparound taillights, and available premium upgrades give the Accent a modern look while 17-inch alloy wheels on the Limited model give a more stable and planted feel to the slightly-increased wheelbase. Efficiently aerodynamic from the sweeping roofline to the sculpted underside, the Accent is composed of 54.5% advanced high strength steel (up 13% for the fifth generation of this vehicle) with a torsional rigidity factor that has been improved by 32%.

Interior

Contemporary and intuitive with signature Hyundai design cues, the cabin gets a full interior makeover complete with automatic climate control, heated front seats, proximity push button start, cruise control, power windows and locks, smart trunk release, and even Bluetooth. Small touches like backlit window buttons and overhead grab handles add to the overall ambience; and as if the 14-cubic-foot trunk isn't spacious enough, the standard 60/40 split rear seats can also be easily folded down forward with the press of a button to allow for even more room to store suitcases or equipment.

Technology

Current-level technology is a heavy hitter in this vehicle and includes a standard 5-inch color touchscreen with rearview camera as well as an available 7-inch display audio system with SiriusXM satellite radio, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay along with safety features like automatic emergency braking and available forward collision-avoidance assist. Available Blue Link® Connected Services is offered with three years of standard complimentary service including remote start. And even more extras include the available segment-first hands-free smart trunk release and dual charging USB.

All of this, plus the quality and reliability aspect of the Hyundai Accent is backed by America's Best Warranty. So hop into an Accent at a local dealer near you, or visit the brand online at:
