three works collectively known as The Beauty Plays,
controversial playwright Neil LaBute portrays with
astute accuracy (and only a minor sense of political
correctness) America’s obsession with physical
attractiveness. Using in-your-face dialogue,
laugh-out-loud humor, and a clever blend of literary and
pop culture references, LaBute is unapologetic and
refreshingly (but brutally) honest in his assessment of
love, beauty, and the unending maintenance of ongoing
relationships. |
