Chevrolet, Ford and Toyota will provide DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth consumers the opportunity to test drive some of their favorite vehicles through the streets of downtown Fort Worth at this year's Ride & Drive Event.
More than 20 models ranging from electric and compact to SUVs and pick ups will be available to test drive from these three manufacturers, said Jim Hardick, DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth chairman.
The Ride & Drive Event will begin on Thursday, Dec. 7 with Ford and Toyota and continue through the weekend when Chevrolet joins the lineup. Participants must be 18 years old, have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
For the second consecutive year, the CBS 11 is reminding auto show visitors to
drive 'East Bound and Down' to the Classic Car Corral!
According to David Hershey, organizer of the Classic Car Corral and vice president of Creative Services for CBS11/TXA21, the Classic Car Corral will showcase a tribute to the 40th Anniversary of
Smokey and the Bandit. The display will feature several models of the classic black
Smokey and the Bandit Trans AMs, and an authentic Sheriff Buford T. Justice Pontiac police car. In addition, there will be some amazing examples of classic automotive styling and technology from nearly every decade. Hershey also added that it will be a competitive show, and auto show visitors will have the opportunity to vote for the
People's Choice Award.
We hope everyone will grab their CB radios and join us at the CBS 11 Classic Car Corral at the 2017 DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth, Hershey added.
This year, the DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth is partnering with a worthwhile organization called Packs With Purpose, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides backpacks filled with basic necessities and other goodies to foster children in the DFW Metroplex. Auto Show visitors are asked to donate books (for infants through teenagers) when they visit the Show. These books will then be placed in the backpacks that will be given to the foster children when they are placed in their new homes.
We are very excited to work with these selfless women and their wonderful organization. We hope that auto show attendees will show their generosity and bring enough books to fill hundreds of backpacks, Hardick said.
According to founders Miranda Baker and Julie Smith, close to 500 backpacks have been distributed since the organization was launched in December 2016.
Imagine being a young child being taken from everything you have ever known, handed a trash bag and told to place whatever items you can fit into it. This is if that child even gets a chance to take anything. What type of message is this sending to these innocent young lives, Baker said.
Packs With Purpose is excited to be chosen to partner with the DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth for this Book Drive. It is always a special moment for us when a group like the DFW Auto Show believes in our mission and these children as much as we do, she added.
