Cobras, Shelbys, Mustangs, Tigers, Cougars, and Panteras ... oh my! Sounds more like a zoo lineup than a car show, but it is that time of the year again for the annual Shelby Car Show hosted by Legacy Texas Bank and The Shelby Cobra Association of Texas.
This much-anticipated event is in its 7th year and is always enjoyed equally by car enthusiasts, collectors and families. There are already over 200 high-profile one-of-a-kind Fords registered, which are mostly from the North Texas area; but there will also be cars on display from the Shelby American car club out of Las Vegas.
This year's show will be paying special tribute to the Ford GT 40, which is celebrating the 50th anniversary for winning the 1966 24 hours of Le Mans, the 24 hours of Daytona and the 12 hours of Sebring. The GT went 1-2-3 in all three races with Carroll Shelby's cars taking the top spot for all three races. The GT also went onto dominate the 24 hours of Le Mans by winning the next four years.
The event will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 5000 Legacy Drive in Plano, Texas, from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM; and will also feature live music, memorabilia, food and drinks. Admission is free, so bring a car load and be sure to use the hashtag #ShelbyCarShow.
