The calendar may say it's winter, but it's summer body season at the Jewish Community Center of Dallas (The J). Beginning Monday, Feb. 8, people of all fitness levels are invited to The J's heated indoor pool for Paddleboard Aqua Yoga taking place weekly through April 3. Attendees need no experience or equipment for this unique hour-long workout that combines yoga poses with the popular sport of Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP).
We're always adding new and different fitness options; it's part of The J's philosophy about health for the whole family, says Terri Arends, The J's Group Fitness Director.
Our friends at DFW Surf had all the equipment and we had the perfect 82-degree indoor pool and talented instructors, so we decided to bring them all together for a unique experience that members and non-members can explore and enjoy.
Paddleboard Aqua Yoga classes will be held Mondays from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 2 p.m. at The J's Lieberman Family Wellness Center, 7900 Northaven Rd. in Dallas. Classes begin on Monday, Feb. 8 and continue through Sunday, April 3. Drop-in rate is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Eight-lesson packs are available for $120 for members and $150 for non-members. Paddleboards and all other equipment will be provided for the class. Attendees should wear attire that can get wet and that allows for a full range of movement. For more information or to reserve a space on a paddleboard visit www.jccdallas.org or call (214) 239-7137.
