NASCAR Monster Energy Cup driver Kurt Busch captured the Busch Pole Award for the upcoming O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway track in Fort Worth with a winning speed and time of 27.360 seconds, 197.368.

This year's qualifying was shortened to only one round due to rain. This is Busch's first pole for the 2018 season. Busch also won the pole for the fall race at TMS in stunning fashion by setting the track record on the newly repaved racetrack.

Fords dominated the qualifying just as they did the first practice session taking the top four spots. Denny Hamlin was the fastest Toyota for fifth at 196.257 and Jimmy Johnson was the highest finishing Chevy in ninth spot at a speed of 195.603.
