The seven blocks of historic Sixth Street (formerly known as Pecan Street) between Congress and IH 35 are the heart of Austin's live entertainment scene.  The area hosts a large variety of music venues (featuring styles from jazz to blues, country, hip-hop, rock, and more) as well as restaurants and cafés, art galleries, tattoo parlors, eclectic shops, and the iconic Driskill Hotel.  Annual events include Austin Mardi Gras, SXSW, the Republic of Texas Bikers Rally, the Pecan Street Festival, and Halloween festivities.

ACL Live is a state-of-the-art live music venue, home for the taping of the acclaimed PBS series Austin City Limits, and host to the popular annual outdoor festival.

Texas Bat Colonies
