Whether you're a Dallas resident looking to rediscover the city from a fresh perspective or a new-in-town visitor uncovering the area's highlights for the first time, the Uptown Dallas Food Tour presented by Food Tours of America is a fantastic opportunity to visit nearby cultural attractions and hear interesting and entertaining commentary about area venues all while tasting the delicious local cuisine of charming Uptown, Dallas' most pedestrian friendly neighborhood!
Come hungry and ready for generous portions of home-style favorites, Tex-Mex specialties, refreshing cocktails, and made from scratch desserts during comfortable sit-down visits to several hand-picked eateries. Each walking tour includes a fully-narrated scenic stroll of McKinney Avenue, the State Thomas Historic District (the largest collection of 1880's Victorian homes in Dallas), West Village Shopping District, McKinney Avenue antique trolley cars, community theaters, art galleries, notable cemeteries, and more. Your trip also comes complete with behind the scenes anecdotes (for instance, find out which house was purchased for just $10 or where Dallas celebrity Chef Dean Fearing met his wife), and expect a yummy surprise or two!
Although specific venues and food items are subject to change, a few of the items we had on our recent tour included deep fried jalapenos stuffed with chicken and cheese from Primo's, Texas farm raised bacon and egg pizza and organic veggie pizza from Sfuzzi along with a flight of three frozen concoctions (Red Bull vodka, Prosecco with white peach nectar, and a blueberry mojito), The Stand's signature "Mac Daddy Dog" and accompanying fried Hostess Twinkie (a nod to the State Fair of Texas), and much more!
The tour runs approximately 2.5 hours; and price includes all food, beverages (alcoholic and otherwise), and local attractions. Public tours are held on Saturdays and Sundays year round (rain or shine), and customizable private tour options are available.
