You don?t have to be a golfer to organize a successful golf event. You do, however, have to be very organized and have a clear plan that will help you keep on top of all the little details that can make the difference between a good event and a successful one.

Set a Date

The key to any successful event is getting a good turnout. With this in mind, it is very important to pick the date of your event very carefully. Make sure that you check to see if there are any conflicting events in the area on the date you have chosen or any other tournaments nearby. You also need to make sure that you choose a date that will work for the golfers you are hoping will participate. Get this vital first step wrong and your golf event could be a total flop. Good weather conditions would help too, so pick a good time of the year for good weather conditions. It would be also a good idea to check the long range weather forecasts beforehand.

Give Prizes

Think about the sort of prizes you would like to give for your event, spend your budget wisely, and make sure that they are things your participants will actually use. According to Golf Poser, golfing merchandise and clothing items such as the Puma golf sweater will always go down well with golfers. Make sure that you order your prizes in plenty of time so that you are not worrying at the last minute when they haven?t arrived.

Choose a Course

Location is key; make sure you choose a golf course that is in a good location for all your golfers, if they will be travelling a distance to the tournament ensure that there is accommodation nearby. Before you make your final choice, visit any courses that you are considering for your event and have a good look around to make sure they have all the facilities you require.

Sell Sponsorships

Once you have both a date and a location for your golf event, your next step should be to sell sponsorships. This is a great way to get the commitment you need to help make your event a success. Make sure that you offer various levels of sponsorship - each level should give some type of recognition in the tournament as well as participation. Make sure that your sponsors feel like they are getting a good value for their money.

Create Publicity

Without the right kind of exposure, your tournament may not get the number of participants that it needs to make it a success. There are plenty of ways in which you can advertise your event, so make use of them. Create fliers and posters and visit local golf courses, gyms, and sporting goods stores to see if they will display them for you. Consider placing an article in the local newspaper to drum up interest, or contact the local radio station and see if they will help you to spread the word of your event. Make sure that you budget for your publicity; it might cost a fair amount of money, but hopefully it will pay off in terms of participant numbers.

With these tips, you?re sure to arrange an event that ticks all the boxes and will have people asking when your next event will be held!
