10 Tasty Things to Do at the Dallas Chocolate Festival

This showcase of chocolate makers, artisans, and pastry chefs is one of the must do annual events for Dallas foodies.

Step right up to taste some of the Greatest Chocolate on Earth at the eighth annual Dallas Chocolate Festival presented by DallasChocolate.org on Friday, September 8 - Sunday, September 10, 2017. This showcase of nationally and locally recognized chocolate makers, bean-to-bar artisans, specialty foods craftspeople, and top pastry chefs features a number of enticing circus-themed events this year and activities for guests to enjoy including:


#1) Midway Party


Kick off the three-day festival at the Friday night circus-themed Midway Party complete with burgers, corn dogs, specialty cocktails, carnival games, a virtual reality circus, and a cake walk featuring cakes from local pastry chefs and bakeries.


#2) Chocolate Exhibit


Watch how chocolate is made during a live exhibition by experts who will be working through all the stages of the complex process of cleaning, fermenting, roasting, grinding, winnowing, conching, and tempering before product is poured into molds.

#3) Chocolate Samples


Sample chocolate from a selection of over 60 chocolate makers and chocolatiers from around the world who showcase their uniquely-tasty confectionary treats such as bean-to-bar chocolate, bonbons, truffles, baked goods, specialty foods, and more.


#4) New Location


Check out the festival's new location at the Fashion Industry Gallery (F.I.G.) located at 1807 Ross Avenue in downtown Dallas, an exciting milestone achievement considering the Dallas Chocolate Festival has tripled in size since its inception in 2009.


#5) Lecture Insights


Hear a lecture presentation by festival exhibitors who give interesting insights into the world of craft chocolate including New Faces of Chocolate, Social Issues in Chocolate, and A Tasting History of Chocolate with Dr. Carla Martin.


#6) Free Demos


Watch a demonstration as talented industry professionals offer free 45-minute sessions such as Strange Chocolate Pairings with Megan Giller, Breaking Down the Chocolate Wall with Heather Holland, and Baking Fun with Paul Wackym.

#7) Children's Area


Bring along the little kiddos and check out the popular interactive children's area featuring hands-on fun for the little ones including a yummy chocolate fountain, creative games and activities, a strategic chocolate scavenger hunt, and more.

#9) Hands-On Workshops


Take a hands-on workshop class on Sunday afternoon at a commercial kitchen in the Design District where students can learn about subjects such as chocolate making, chocolate tasting, the history of chocolate, and more.


#10) Extend the Weekend
